Mari-Rose Kennedy

Mari-Rose Kennedy is a Senior Research Associate at the University of Bristol. She works across a range of initiatives that aim to increase the involvement of underserved communities in health research, collaborating closely with community organisations, public contributors, and research partners to develop more inclusive and equitable approaches to research participation.

Her current work includes initiatives such as the Health Research Ambassadors programme, which aims to strengthen the role of communities that are often underrepresented in research by supporting community members to influence research priorities and contribute throughout the research cycle. Through this work, she helps develop approaches that make health research more inclusive, accessible, and relevant to the communities it seeks to serve.

Mari has a background in psychology and bioethics and completed her PhD at the Centre for Ethics in Medicine, University of Bristol. She has contributed to local, national, and international interdisciplinary health research projects spanning public involvement, research ethics and integrity, responsible research and innovation, and the ethical development and implementation of healthcare technologies. Her work has explored the ethical and social considerations associated with emerging healthcare technologies, including their implications for research and end users. Her doctoral research used qualitative methods and ethical theory to explore the ethical implications of using administrative data in epidemiological research.
