Biography

Dr Claire Pentecost is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Exeter whose research focuses on improving support for people affected by dementia. Her work examines how post-diagnostic dementia services can be designed, implemented and evaluated to improve outcomes and reduce inequalities.

Claire has expertise in dementia services research, realist methodology, implementation science, qualitative research and service evaluation. She leads and contributes to research in partnership with people living with dementia, carers, NHS organisations, voluntary sector providers and policymakers across the South West of England.

She is involved in the ANCHOR-D programme which examines wellbeing focussed post diagnostic dementia services across the South West and seeks to understand how post-diagnostic dementia support works, for whom, in what circumstances and why. Her research interests include living alone with dementia, service variation, health inequalities, person-centred care and the implementation of community-based support services.

Alongside her research, Claire contributes to strategic evaluation and service improvement initiatives, including the evaluation of the Devon Dementia Strategy, helping to inform the development of dementia policy and practice across the region and beyond.
