Louise Allan

Biography

Professor Louise Allan moved to the University of Exeter as Professor of Geriatric Medicine in June 2018. She has a specialist interest in the Neurology and Psychiatry of Old Age and is a member of the Centre for Research in Ageing and Cognitive Health.

Louise completed undergraduate studies at Oxford University and then did house jobs in Oxford and Whitehaven, after which she moved to Newcastle to complete postgraduate medical training as a Geriatrician. She had an Alzheimer’s Society Fellowship for the completion of her doctoral studies on autonomic dysfunction in dementia and then she became a lecturer at Newcastle University (2007-2008) and subsequently a senior lecturer (2008-2018). Clinically, Louise works as a Geriatrician in the Devon Memory Service.
