Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer in Public Health in the Department of Health and Community Sciences, University of Exeter Medical School, and an Honorary Consultant in Public Health, Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID), UK Department for Health and Social Care. I used to work as a Consultant in Public Health for Devon County Council but in 2016 I took up my current role.

I study knowledge mobilisation and implementation science and look at how people use (or do not use) different types of knowledge in different settings. This includes healthcare organisations, care homes and nursing homes for older people, and voluntary-sector organisations. Much of my work involves older people and especially those who are frail, those whose lives are affected by dementia, and those who provide services or care for older people. I use both qualitative and quantitative methods and am interested in theories and philosophies of knowledge and knowledge use.
